It’s no wonder toddlers are so quick to turn a meal into an art project. What’s more fun than playing with your food? Imagine if adding bold and bright colors to your food was also adding a few nutritional benefits. You can do just that with Rawnice, a plant-based vegan company that is all about making healthy foods more fun.
Rawnice is on a mission to redefine health and wellness for everyone, not just the stereotypical “health nuts.” Rawnice aims to empower people to embrace creativity and wellness on their terms. Their colorful Superfood powers will turn your boring old meals into the highlight of your day.
When our fearless CEO, Jessica, encountered these bright and healthy products, she knew instantly what our next Points North Team Challenge would be. For last year, we all had a tasty time incorporating McCormick’s new Old Bay Caramel seasoning into recipes, you can read more about our creations here.
Jess sent each of us a package with different colored products from Rawnice, and inspiration on how to get colorful in the kitchen. We each worked these ingredients into our favorite recipes over the upcoming weeks and gathered back together to report on our (delicious!) findings. Keep reading to see what we came up with.
A Colorful Twist on Yogurt
For this I used the blue spirulina powder and added it to my normal smoothie breakfast bowl. Blue spirulina is packed with antioxidants and good for our immune system.
I didn’t really notice a taste difference, but the color is awesome and it was so fun to blend it into the yogurt! It feels like I’m a kid playing with my food and I’m here for that
Recipe/Ingredients
- Rawnice Organic Blue Spirulina Powder
- Vanilla or plain Greek yogurt
- Fruits, granola, and nuts of your choice
Shrek’s Secret
This tastes like grass. With the other powders having little to no taste, I was surprised with how potent this powder is. I might have to sweeten this up a bit with some honey, which is something I don’t usually have to do for a green smoothie.
Recipe/Ingredients
- Rawnice Matcha Powder
- Oat milk
- Banana
- Peanut butter powder
- Frozen mango
- Handful of spinach
Aqua Adventure Pancakes
These were so fun to make! I have 2 young kids, and they were ecstatic to see that their pancakes had taken on a new hue. The flavor didn’t change (verified by the discernible palette of my toddler), and I was on board for the extra health benefits.
Some of the brightness faded when they hit the skillet, but they were still a hit.
Recipe/Ingredients
- Rawnice Organic Blue Spirulina Powder
- Pancake mix (I used Pearl Milling Company)
Blue Skies Smoothie
This blended together beautifully, and I felt like the taste was amplified. It was even more fun to drink!
Recipe/Ingredients
- Rawnice Organic Blue Spirulina Powder
- 2 tbsp peanut butter
- 1 cup vanilla yogurt
- 1 cup spinach
- 2 tbsp of honey
- 2 cups oat milk (or milk of choice)
Golden Popcorn
It had a mustardy, cheesy adjacent flavor, but this one turns the fingers yellow, so be mindful of how much you add.
Recipe/Ingredients
- Rawnice Curcumin Powder
- Butter-flavored popcorn
A Whip of Color
Initially I wanted to prank my family and make blue mashed potatoes, but I figured that might be a stretch. I was thinking hard on something that would be fun for the kiddos so in came the Tru-Whip! I knew they would enjoy having the colored cream as a fun surprise. Surprisingly, the powder dulled the sweetness a little which was helpful for me because I added dark chocolate chips so it was a nice balance.
Recipe/Ingredients
- Rawnice Pink Pitaya Powder
- Strawberries
- Blueberries
- Cool Whip
A Fruity Delight
I made “nice cream” with the pink powder. It said it was dragonfruit-like flavored, so I thought why not! We added sprinkles and a strawberry to be fancy. My daughter especially thoroughly enjoyed it, but it was so messy she was shirtless by the end of her bowl. I now keep it on hand permanently just for her.
Recipe/Ingredients
- Rawnice Pink Pitaya Powder
- 2 frozen bananas
- Almond milk (amount varies depending on desired consistency)
The Royal Margarita
Just add the blue powder to a premade margarita mix. And if the Royals are any good this year, this is what I’ll be drinking!
Recipe/Ingredients
- Rawnice Organic Blue Spirulina Powder
- Jose Cuervo Authentic Margarita Classic Lime Ready to Serve (or any margarita mix)
Curious whether or not you should give these a try? Absolutely yes. This is such a fun and easy way to add color and nutrition to your food. Enjoy, taste the Rawnice rainbow, and thank us later.
