For the program, Watson sites research from Entrepreneur Magazine, Inc Magazine, and the Wall Street Journal to support her findings about the business environment of the new year.

“There’s going to be an increased focus on inbound marketing this year,” Watson says, which is where brands spend resources to create valuable content and conversations that draw audiences to their products and services. “It’s going to become very important for us to be more engaged with technology, to align our online presence so that it’s strong and consistent, and to start connecting with what’s happening around us.”

Additionally, Watson addresses other trends such as loyalty marketing, adding value to your brand as a social influencer, using design to stand out, and measuring the impact of your marketing campaigns. “When you’re a small business, it’s understandable that sometimes we are working with very limited budgets, which is why it’s important to do your research, invest in more than one approach, and to monitor your campaigns to make sure they’re performing optimally”

Watson closes the show by encouraging business owners to get on the ball this year and starting making strides towards their goals. “Its time to put yourself out there. Now is the time to start building your foundation, and to be confident in what you do.”
