Sometimes Community Service is Staining A Fence

NewOrleansQuotes

Greetings from New Orleans! My plan when I travel to different cities across the country is to be involved through social activities, business networking events, and most of all community service.

Here in New Orleans there are a wealth of community service projects and organizations to take part in. But between the social and business networking (there is always something happening in New Orleans!) I was having a tough time doing the proper research to join up with a service project.

And then, a new friend and neighbor needed help with staining a fence they were building, and I had a revelation.

Sometimes community service isn’t with a particular organization or group. Sometimes is good music, a sunny afternoon, and helping your neighbor stain a fence.

So after a fun late morning to early afternoon of playing tourist in the French Quarter, I changed clothes and met up with my friend and her roommate, and we stained that fence! My goal is to give back to the community that accepts me and takes me in, and in this case, for New Orleans, this community service activity was most fitting.
